Outcome

You will create a page, add a heading and introduction, check the draft safely, publish it, and confirm the public result.

Before you begin

  • Required role: Admin or Superadmin.
  • Required plan or plugin: none.
  • Starting point: Content > Pages, with a unique title and URL segment.

A new regular page starts as Draft. Visitors cannot use its ordinary public path until you publish it.

Create the page

  1. In the admin sidebar, open Pages under Content.
  2. Select Add Page.
  3. Enter the Title and choose a Parent Page. Keep No parent (root level) for a top-level page.
  4. Enter a URL Segment and check the computed Full URL.
  5. Keep Regular Page selected and choose a Page Layout such as Default.
  6. Select Create Page. Confirm the new page appears with Draft status.

Add content

  1. Find the new page and select Edit.
  2. In the visual editor, keep Blocks selected and find the empty Main slot.
  3. Select Add Block, choose Heading, and enter a useful Block Title.
  4. Set Heading Text and Heading Level, then select Add Block.
  5. Select Add block at the end, choose Text, and enter a second useful Block Title.
  6. Add the introduction in the Content editor, then select Add Block.
  7. Wait for All changes saved. Save is disabled when there are no local changes to send.

Preview before publishing

  1. Read the page in the visual editor canvas and use the Desktop device selector to check the intended width.
  2. For a separate draft preview, return to Pages, open the page row menu, and select Preview Draft.
  3. Confirm the preview opens in a separate window and contains the new heading and introduction.

Important: the editor header Preview link currently opens the ordinary public path. Before the first publication that path can show Page Not Found. Use the editor canvas or open the page row menu and select Preview Draft for an unpublished page.

Publish the page

Publishing makes the current page structure and block content available immediately. Check the title, URL, and draft preview first.

  1. Return to the visual editor if necessary.
  2. Select Publish.
  3. Confirm Page published appears and the Pages row changes to Live.

Check the result

  • Open the ordinary public path in an unauthenticated browser.
  • Confirm there is one main heading and the introduction matches the editor.
  • At narrow width, confirm the heading wraps and the page has no horizontal overflow.

Undo or recover

  • To take the page offline without deleting it, open its row menu and select Unpublish.
  • Unpublish keeps the content and returns the page to Draft. To publish the unchanged page again, open its row menu and select Publish; the editor Publish control stays unavailable until the draft changes.
  • If content is wrong, edit the draft and wait for All changes saved. Visitors continue seeing the last published snapshot until you publish again.
  • Do not use Delete as a publishing reversal.

If it does not work

  • Create Page is unavailable: confirm your account is an Admin or Superadmin.
  • The URL is rejected: choose a unique URL Segment and check the computed Full URL.
  • The separate preview is blocked: allow the window for this action, open the page row menu, and select Preview Draft again.
  • The public path shows Page Not Found after publishing: confirm the Pages row says Live, then check the exact URL segment.

Next
