Edit page content in the live editor
Use the visual editor canvas, block properties, autosave, device widths, and controlled preview without confusing a draft with public content.
The visual editor lets you change a draft while seeing the page layout. Autosave protects the draft; it does not make the work public until Publish.
Before you begin
- Open the intended page through Content > Pages > Edit.
- Confirm its current Draft, Live, or Unpublished Changes state.
- Prepare approved copy and privacy-safe media.
- Know what visitors currently see before changing the draft.
Orient yourself in the editor
| Control | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Blocks | Browse available content types |
| Tree | Inspect slots, order, and nesting |
| Editor | Use full block properties |
| Ninja | Use simplified fields where supported |
| Page Settings | Open General, SEO, and History |
Select the correct block
- Select visible content in the canvas.
- Confirm the right panel shows the intended block title and type.
- Use Content for ordinary fields, Style for supported presentation, and History for block versions.
Edit Template changes the block template and is not a routine copy-editing control.
Edit labelled content fields
A Heading block exposes the heading content and an H1–H6 level. A Text block exposes Editor content for HTML-formatted text. Preserve one meaningful H1 and a logical heading outline.

Trust the saved indicator, not assumptions
The canvas updates while you edit. Wait for Saved · just now or All changes saved before navigating away. Closing the page is not an undo action because block edits autosave into the draft.
Check every device canvas
- Open the Desktop device selector.
- Check Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile.
- Review wrapping, spacing, media, buttons, forms, tables, and horizontal overflow.
Canvas sizes are fast checks. They do not replace an anonymous public replay.
Use Editor and Ninja deliberately
- Use Editor for the complete property surface.
- Use Ninja when its simplified fields cover the approved task.
- Return to Editor when structure, advanced content, or styling must be inspected.
- Do not assume a simplified field is safe to change without checking its public context.
Preview the draft safely
The canvas is the immediate draft preview. For a separate controlled result, return to Pages and use the row's Preview Draft action. It opens a temporary share route. The editor header's Preview can open the ordinary public path and show Page Not Found before first publication.
Publish only after the boundary check
- Confirm saved state, links, headings, media, and device layouts.
- Select Publish only with release approval.
- Open the ordinary path while signed out at desktop and narrow widths.

Recover safely
- Correct a selected field and wait for autosave.
- Use Up or Down to restore block order.
- Use Page Settings > History > Discard Draft Changes only when every unpublished edit can be lost.
- Restore an approved published version for wider recovery, then preview and Publish separately.
Next steps
- Review the full preview, publish, unpublish, and discard lifecycle.
- Verify page settings before changing a public URL or layout.
- Use the page-not-visible guide when the public result differs from the draft.
