Set a page title, URL, template, and status

Set the page's identity and structure before adding detailed content. A durable title, Full URL, and layout prevent avoidable link and rework problems later.

Before you begin

• Approve the page title and its place in the site hierarchy.
• Check whether the intended public path has ever been shared.
• Know whether the result is a Regular Page or a Redirect.
• Record the existing layout and master page before changing a live page.

Open the same settings from either surface

1. Open Content > Pages.
2. For a new page, select Add Page.
3. For an existing page, right-click its row and select Page settings, or select Page Settings > General in the visual editor.

The create and edit panels own the same core page configuration.

Name the page

Enter a clear Title. This is the admin's human-readable page name and can supply browser and search defaults. It does not replace a meaningful visible H1 in the page content.

Build the intended URL

1. Choose Parent Page. Use No parent (root level) for a top-level page.
2. Enter a short, durable URL Segment.
3. Read Full URL and confirm the complete path.

Changing Parent Page or URL Segment on a published page can break existing links. Preserve an old public path with a Redirect when needed.

Choose page type and layout

Use Regular Page for content. Use Redirect only when this record must forward visitors to an approved internal page or external URL.

Choose Page Layout. If the panel says Layout controlled by Master Page, shared structure belongs to the master page rather than this content page.

Use advanced options deliberately

• Detail Page is for a record-driven detail route, not an ordinary page.
• Expand Advanced Options only when a Mount Path is required.
• Leave Mount Path empty to keep normal parent-based URLs.
• Choose the intended Master Page, inherit the template default, or use none.

Read page status correctly

Page Status is read-only here. Publish and Unpublish are separate actions.

Save and verify

1. Select Create Page or Save Changes.
2. Confirm the row shows the intended title, path, layout badge, and status.
3. Open the row's Preview Draft or View live action and verify the computed path.
4. After a structural change, test affected menus and inbound links at desktop and narrow widths.

Recover from a wrong setting

• Select Cancel before saving a wrong Full URL or layout.
• Reopen Page settings and restore the recorded value.
• Create a Redirect when an old published path must keep working.
• Restore the prior layout or master page when slots disappear, then preview before publication.
