Outcome

You will prepare the information used around a post: its Blog card, byline, archives, browser title, search description, and social preview.

Before you start

ItemReady when
Post bodyThe Draft has one public Heading 1 and reviewed content
ImageFilename, alt text, rights, and attribution are known
AuthorAn approved Author profile exists
CategoryThe archive name is useful to readers

Required role: Admin or Superadmin.

Write the Excerpt

Open the Post tab and write a plain-language Excerpt of up to 160 characters. Lead with what readers gain. Do not repeat the title word for word.

  1. Choose Click to add featured image or Change.
  2. Select an approved Media Library image.
  3. Confirm the image fits the card at desktop and narrow widths.

The Featured Image appears on Blog cards. The current article template does not place it automatically in the post body.

Set the byline and category

Expand Organization. Select a Post Author, then add the relevant Categories. Use a team or approved public identity; never expose a private account identity.

The fictional post is assigned to the public BlockNinja Team profile and Studio Journal category.

Set the displayed date

Post Date is the date readers see and can differ from the publish time. Leave it empty unless the editorial date is intentional.

Add SEO metadata

  1. Open the SEO tab.
  2. Enter the Focus Keyphrase.
  3. Write a distinct SEO Title; 50–60 characters is the on-screen recommendation.
  4. Write a Meta Description; 120–155 characters is the on-screen recommendation.
  5. Choose Save SEO.
Reviewed SEO fields show recommended lengths and a successful save state without exposing an environment address.

Choose a Social Image

Use Social Image → Select image when the shared preview needs a dedicated 1200 × 630 image. A Featured Image is not automatically an Open Graph image.

Verify every output

OutputCheck
ArticleBody heading, content, and metadata source
BlogPost title, image, byline, date, and excerpt
CategoryThe card appears in the intended archive
Search/socialTitle, description, canonical URL, and social image

Expected result

The Blog card uses the saved Post title, Featured Image, byline, date, and Excerpt. The article source carries the saved SEO title, description, and canonical URL.

Undo or recover

Return to the relevant field, remove or replace the value, and wait for Saved. Unpublish the post before correcting any public mistake. Do not delete Author or Category records that still organize other posts.

If metadata is missing

  • Reload after Saved and confirm the field persisted.
  • Check Blog, article, and category outputs separately.
  • Set a dedicated Social Image if Open Graph image metadata is absent.
  • Confirm the public template supports the field where you expect to see it.

Publication gate: a reviewer must verify the card, archive, source metadata, social preview, desktop, and narrow output independently.
