Publish Content
Organise posts with Categories and Authors
Create useful archives and public bylines, assign them to posts, verify output, and avoid breaking shared records.
Outcome
You will create a useful Category, choose an approved Author, assign both to a post, and verify their public output.
Choose the right record
| Record | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Category | A reader-facing topic archive shared by related posts |
| Author | A public byline and profile for a person or approved team identity |
Required role: Admin or Superadmin.
Create a Category
- Open Publishing → Categories.
- Choose New Category.
- Enter Name, Slug, and a short Description.
- Choose a colour for admin recognition; do not rely on colour alone.
- Choose Create Category.

Create or review an Author
Open Publishing → Authors. New Author supports Display Name, Slug, optional public email, Bio, Avatar, Website, Twitter Handle, and LinkedIn URL.
Warning: every populated field can become public. Use an approved public identity and omit private contact details.
Assign the records
- Open the post Draft.
- Expand Organization.
- Select Post Author.
- Use Add category… to add the Category.
- Wait for Saved.

Verify the Blog card
Publish only after review. The Blog card should show the Post title, byline, displayed date, Featured Image, and Excerpt.
Verify the Category archive
Open the Category path displayed in the Categories table. Confirm one Heading 1 names the Category and the assigned post appears. Check desktop and narrow widths.
Verify the Author profile
Open the Author path shown in the Authors table. Confirm the public name, bio, avatar, links, and assigned posts are accurate and safe.
Keep organization useful
- Prefer a small set of durable topics over one-off Categories.
- Use one canonical Author profile per public identity.
- Keep names and slugs stable after publication.
- Link navigation to archives only after their output is verified.
Undo or recover
Remove a Category from a post or choose a different Post Author, then wait for Saved. Unpublish before correcting a public mistake.
Do not delete a Category or Author until you have checked the Posts count and reassigned every dependent post.
If a post is missing from an archive
- Confirm the post is Published.
- Reload the editor and confirm the Category or Author persisted.
- Use the path shown in the management table.
- Check Blog Settings and the public site status.
Publication gate: an independent reviewer must create, assign, verify, unassign, and reassign fictional records without exposing personal data.
