Sign in and tour the admin

Sign in to BlockNinja, learn the sidebar and header controls, search for admin destinations, open your site, and find profile or sign-out options.

3 min readUpdated 8 Aug 2026

Outcome

You will sign in, recognise the admin layout, find destinations quickly, and know where to open your site, profile, or sign-out control.

Before you begin

  • Required role: Viewer, Admin, or Superadmin.
  • Starting point: your site admin link or the site link in your BlockNinja account portal.
  • Have your normal BlockNinja sign-in ready.

The controls you see depend on your role, plan, and screen width. A missing restricted control does not necessarily mean the admin is broken.

  1. Open the admin link for your site.
  2. Select Sign in with BlockNinja.
  3. Complete the central sign-in. BlockNinja returns you to the admin destination you requested.
  4. Confirm that the page heading says Dashboard.

Important: Emergency local login bypasses central sign-in. Use it only if BlockNinja sign-in is unavailable and you already have a local CMS password. Do not guess credentials or reuse a password unless your site owner explicitly configured it for local access.

Learn the admin layout

The admin has three persistent areas: navigation, the page workspace, and the header.

  • Frequently Used keeps your recent destinations at the top of navigation.
  • The grouped sidebar organises destinations such as Overview, Content, Publishing, Data Platform, Marketing, Communications, Administration, Settings, and Account.

  • The workspace shows the current page. Dashboard begins with site activity, quick actions, and items that may need attention.
  • On a narrow screen, select Open navigation menu to reveal the same grouped navigation. Select Close when you are finished.

Find a destination

  1. Select the Search anything field in the header, or press Cmd+K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux.
  2. Type an exact label such as Site Settings, or a familiar term such as navigation for Menus.
  3. Review the result label and description. Use the pointer, or the Up and Down Arrow keys followed by Enter, to open it.
  4. Press Escape to close search without navigating.

Search can include admin destinations and matching site content. Results that require more access are not offered as a way around your role.

Use the header controls

  • View live site opens the public site in a new browser tab on desktop.
  • Media Library opens the shared media browser.
  • Notifications shows recent site events.
  • Report a Bug opens the safe problem-reporting flow.
  • Account opens Profile and Log out.
  • Satoru and Satoru AI appear when your role and screen width allow them.

Check the result

  • Dashboard is visible after sign-in.
  • Search anything returns a destination whose label and description match your task.
  • View live site opens a separate tab, so the admin stays available.
  • Account contains Profile and Log out.

Undo or recover

  • Close command search with Escape.
  • Close narrow navigation with Close.
  • If the session expired, return to the managed sign-in card and sign in again.
  • If a destination is absent, confirm your role with a site Admin or Superadmin.

If it does not work

  • You return to sign-in: the session may have expired. Complete managed sign-in again.
  • Central sign-in is unavailable: use Emergency local login only with an existing local CMS password; otherwise contact the site owner or support.
  • A control is missing: check your role, plan, and screen width before reporting a defect.
  • A temporary error appears while your account is still active: wait briefly and try the destination once more. Do not repeatedly submit credentials.
