Your new site is ready. This short guide will help you make your first page, add content, preview your work, and publish it when you are happy with the result.

You do not need to learn all of BlockNinja before you begin. For your first session, you only need three ideas: pages, blocks, and drafts. If you have not explored the admin area yet, start with Sign in and tour the admin.

Three things to know before you start

These three ideas explain most of what you will see while building your first page:

  • A page is a destination on your website, such as Home, About, Services, or Contact. Every page has a title and a public URL.
  • A block is one piece of a page. A heading, paragraph, image, button, hero, or column layout can each be a block. You build a page by adding and arranging them.
  • A draft is your private working version. BlockNinja autosaves your edits, but visitors do not see them until you choose Publish.

Make your first page

Start with something small and useful, such as an About page. You can change every part of it later.

  1. Open Content > Pages and select Add Page.
  2. Enter a clear title, such as About Us. Enter a short URL Segment, such as about; this becomes the final part of the page address.
  3. For your first top-level page, leave Parent Page set to No parent, keep Regular Page selected, and choose the Default layout.
  4. Select Create Page. Your new page will appear as a Draft, which means it is not public yet.
  5. Select Edit, find the Main area, select Add Block, and choose Heading. Enter the heading your visitors should see.
  6. Select Add block at the end, choose Text, and write a short introduction. Keep the first version simple; two or three sentences are enough.
  7. Wait for All changes saved before leaving the editor.

Build the page with blocks

Each block has one job. Using separate blocks for a heading, some text, and an image makes the page easier to rearrange and update later. The blocks available to you depend on your site's templates and plugins.

  • Select a block in the page preview to open its settings. Use Content to change what it says and Style for the appearance options that block supports.
  • Give blocks useful internal titles, such as About heading or Team photo. Visitors do not see these titles, but they make the editor easier to navigate.
  • Use Up, Down, or the drag handle to change the order. If you lose track of where something sits, Tree shows the page structure.
  • Duplicate is useful when you want a similar section. The copy is independent, so rename it and replace its content straight away.
  • Use standard blocks when you can. HTML blocks are available for advanced custom markup, but they require more care to keep the page accessible and easy to maintain.

Preview before anyone else sees it

Your edits autosave into the draft. Autosave protects your work, but it does not make the page public.

  • Use the Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile options in the editor to check that the page still looks comfortable at different sizes.
  • For a separate preview, return to Pages, open the page row menu, and select Preview Draft. This does not make the normal page address public.
  • When the heading, text, links, and layout look right, select Publish. Then open the live page in a signed-out browser to see what visitors see.
  • If you need to take the page offline later, use Unpublish instead of Delete. Your content will remain available as a draft.

One control deserves extra care: Discard Draft Changes permanently removes every unpublished edit. Read the confirmation before using it. The preview and publishing guide explains all of these actions.

Ready to write your first post?

This article is a post, and you can create one of your own. Open Publishing > Posts, select New Post, add a title and body, write a short excerpt, and wait for Saved. When it is ready, publish it and check View Live Post. You can add a featured image, author, categories, and search details when you are ready. You can learn the rest as you need it

Once your first page is live, you can explore menus, themes, images, reusable layouts, structured data, automations, AI tools, and plugins at your own pace.
